John Durham Fires Back at Democrats with Bombshell

During the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing on Special Counsel John Durham’s probe of the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation, Democrats missed an opportunity to focus on learning more about the FBI’s actions and the recommendations arising from the investigation. Instead, they chose to attack Durham and his conclusions, revealing their partisan agenda and a clear attempt to shield the politicized FBI bureaucracy. Durham and Chairman Jim Jordan handled these attacks calmly and with good humor, but the Democrats persisted in their diversionary tactics.

Rep. Steve Cohen’s outburst during the hearing was particularly outrageous and indicative of lingering “Trump Derangement Syndrome” among House Democrats. Cohen declared that Durham’s reputation would be damaged, insinuating that anyone associated with Donald Trump suffers from reputational harm. It seems Cohen conflates an investigation into the FBI’s failure to follow laws and standards with personal loyalty to Trump. His dramatic and substance-less tirade failed to contribute anything meaningful to the discussion.

In response to Cohen’s theatrics, Rep. Darrell Issa humorously questioned whether Cohen had made up his mind about the former president. Durham remained composed and unwavering, expressing his confidence in his reputation among those he respects, such as his family and his faith. He made it clear that he prioritizes the opinions of those who truly matter to him over baseless attacks from partisan politicians.

It is disappointing that Democrats chose to use this hearing as a platform for political grandstanding instead of engaging in a substantive discussion about the FBI’s actions and the necessary reforms. By attacking Durham and attempting to undermine his credibility, they only further undermined their own credibility and demonstrated a lack of genuine interest in upholding the rule of law. The American people deserve a thorough examination of the FBI’s conduct, and it is disheartening to see partisan gamesmanship taking precedence over accountability and transparency.
